Frequently asked questions
01 Are the passwords generated here actually secure? +
Yes. The tool uses crypto.getRandomValues — the browser’s own cryptographic random number generator — rather than Math.random, which is predictable. Everything runs on your device; no request ever leaves the browser.
02 How long should a password be? +
At least 12 characters, and 16 or more for email, banking and website admin accounts. Every extra character multiplies the number of combinations an attacker has to try, so adding length beats sprinkling a few symbols into a short password.
03 When should I skip look-alike characters? +
When you have to read the password out loud or copy it by hand. It removes characters people confuse — capital O and zero, lowercase l, capital I and the digit 1. It shrinks the character set slightly, so raise the length to compensate.
04 Does MIMA Digi store the passwords I generate? +
No. This page is static HTML with no submit form and no logging. The password exists only in your browser tab and disappears when you close it.
05 Can I reuse one strong password everywhere? +
You should not. One breached service puts every account sharing that password at risk. Generate a separate password per site and keep them in a password manager.
